Plant & Aquarium Water

Some plants and tanks simply do better without tap-water minerals. Renew Labs Plant & Aquarium Water is deionized in Houston, Texas and packed in 1 gallon jugs and 2-packs for growers and hobbyists.Renew Labs Plant & Orchid Water is made for mineral-sensitive plants: Venus flytraps, pitcher plants, sundews, orchids, bonsai, terrarium plants and air plants. It leaves no white crust on leaves, moss or pots, and it gives you a clean base for mixing fertilizer at the strength you want.Renew Labs Aquarium Top-Off Water replaces the water that evaporates from reef, nano, shrimp and planted tanks. When aquarium water evaporates the minerals stay behind, so topping off with tap water slowly raises them. Deionized water replaces only what left. Pour it in directly or through your auto top-off reservoir, then remineralize or add salt mix as your tank needs. No RO/DI unit, filters or wait time. Check your tank parameters with your own test kit. Not for human consumption. Keep out of reach of children.

Plant & Aquarium Water FAQ

Is deionized water good for plants?

It helps mineral-sensitive plants most: carnivorous plants, orchids, bonsai and terrarium plants that suffer from salt and mineral buildup. Most houseplants also need fertilizer, which deionized water does not supply. See our plants and orchids guide.

What water is best for Venus flytraps and carnivorous plants?

Low-mineral water. The International Carnivorous Plant Society recommends water low in dissolved minerals for Venus flytraps. Renew Labs Plant & Orchid Water is deionized for this.

Do orchids need fertilizer if I use deionized water?

Yes. Deionized water has no nutrients, so feed orchids with a balanced fertilizer as the American Orchid Society describes, and flush pots now and then to prevent salt buildup. Read our orchid water guide.

Can I use deionized water in my aquarium?

Use Aquarium Top-Off Water to replace evaporation, since minerals stay behind when tank water evaporates. For water changes, remineralize to the hardness your fish, shrimp or reef need.

Which size should I buy?

Both lines come in a 1 gallon jug and a 2-pack: Plant & Orchid Water 2-pack and Aquarium Top-Off Water 2-pack. The 2-pack lowers the price per gallon.
